Tsitsikamma

Tsitsikamma is a Khoi word meaning "place of abundant or sparkling water". The area is covered in large tracts of indigenous forest and fynbos. The crisp forest air invigorates the mind, body and soul as you walk among the vivid greens of the surrounding fauna and marvel at the majestic trees which cover the area. Deep river gorges cleft the plateau as they make their way down to the sea, creating spectacular waterfalls and deep kloofs. The spectacular sounds, sights and smells of the forest transport you to another world, a natural paradise far from the stress of everyday city life, and allow you to rejuvenate in an astoundingly beautiful setting.

Towns in the Tsitsikamma area include Joubertina, Kareedouw, Krakeelrivier, Langkloof and Storms River, each with their own unique characters, characteristics, history and charm.

Indulge in Tsitsikamma's unparalleled pleasures - visit the National Park with it's abundance of birds & wildlife, watch whales & dolphins along the rugged untouched coastline or explore the Khoisan rock art and many walking and hiking trails. The park is a nature-lover's paradise with a touch of history and a great deal of culture. There is so much to see, do and learn with the possibility for fun and adventure around ever corner.

Take a treetop canopy tour - spread your wings and glide like a bird from tree to tree over flowing rivers, past magnificent waterfalls and among the beautiful greenery of the forest. The view and feeling of freedom from among the treetops as you glide through the forest is truly breathtaking.

Adrenalin junkies can enjoy white water tubing, stand-up-paddling or a 7 second free fall from the World's Highest Commercial Bungee Jump! Take a walk on the wild side in the indigenous Tsitsikamma forest - home to the giant Outeniqua Yellowwood or simply relax & unwind in a completely serene wonderland of forest.
